Reading this page
This page groups Grand Exchange margins by item category, so you can work through one part of the market at a time (runes, logs, ores, herbs) rather than a single list of everything.
What each column means
Margins are shown net of the 2% Grand Exchange sales tax (rounded down, capped at 5,000,000 coins per sale). Alongside them sit the item's buy limit, its traded volume, and its trade count, which together say whether a margin can be realised repeatedly or only once.
Sorting by profit alone surfaces expensive, slow-moving items; sorting by volume surfaces cheap items that fill instantly. Categories exist so those two extremes can be compared within a market that behaves consistently.
Data freshness
Prices come from the Old School RuneScape Wiki real-time prices API, which aggregates trades players report from the Grand Exchange. They refresh every 5 minutes.
Frequently asked
- What is the difference between this page and the flipping page?
- The flipping page ranks the entire item catalogue in one list. This page splits the same margin data by item category and adds trade counts, so a market segment can be examined on its own.
- Are the margins shown before or after tax?
- After tax. The Grand Exchange sales tax of 2% of the sale price, rounded down and capped at 5,000,000 coins, is already subtracted.
- How often does the data update?
- Every 5 minutes, from the Old School RuneScape Wiki real-time prices API.
